You Can’t Handle it, But God has it under control

On Wednesday evenings here at The Assembly we have been going through the book of Revelation. It is filled with intriguing and confusing concepts, but I was really drawn to what we saw in 10:4.

4  And when the seven thunders sounded their voices, I was about to write, but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up those things which the seven thunders said, and do not write them.”

Throughout this book we see God Revealing His Son and ultimately His plans, but here He tells John to keep these words confidential. Why can’t we hear what the Angel, who I believe is Jesus, is saying? The only thing I can figure is that God knows best what we are able to handle!

Think about it, I don’t want to know the date of my death! That knowledge would haunt my every day until it came to pass. I also think about my future. When God called me into ministry at the age of 12, if he had shared with me all of the hardships I would endure to pursue that calling, Im afraid I would have said “No Thanks”! However, I would have also then missed out on all the amazing victories I have won while serving in ministry. Basically God knew I couldn’t handle knowing all that would happen, but He has proven over the years that even though I don’t know everything that is going to happen, He continues to take care of me in the midst of each circumstance.

As the song writer once penned, “Many things about tomorrow I don’t claim to understand, but I know who holds tomorrow and I know who holds my hand!”
